Two Agents Every Three Days…Gone

The Nevada Real Estate Division publishes real estate license statistics on a quarterly basis.  I last published October’s numbers for licensed agents in Washoe County.  Today I updated the table with January’s numbers.  As expected the number of active licensees has declined since last quarter…by 72 agents.  Because we had 3,176 agents in October, a reduction of 72 agents represents a 2.3% decline.

The number of inactive agents increased only by eight agents, so 64 agents have left the business entirely during the last quarter.  That’s equivalent to two agents every three days

Washoe County Licensees Active Inactive Total
April 10, 2007 3,166 1,304 4,470
June 8, 2007 3,221 1,237 4,458
August 31, 2007 3,229 1,137 4,366
October 17, 2007 3,176 1,134 4,310
January, 2008 3,104 1,142 4,246

2,500 sales/year, and 3,100 licensees. There just aren’t enough sales to go around which means the trend is destined to continue.

Reminds me of one of my favorite Incline Village licensees who’s real job is being a bartender.

  4. SmartMoney says:

The sad part is, we won’t reach the bottom of this real-estate cycle until there is a shortage of real-estate agents. And that won’t be happening in 2008, even at the current rate.

Derrick, I’m not sure what you’re referring to. Are you talking about the RSS feed? I am unaware that you were intentionally deleted from any list. My apologies.
