Reno makes another list – most construction jobs lost

And, no, I’m not referring to Reno’s #5 ranking on the latest America’s Drunkest Cities list.

A Forbes.com article reports the impact of lost construction jobs in Nevada. Citing a recent survey by the Associated General Contractors of America, the article states that of 337 metro areas studied, Las Vegas ranked 334, and Reno ranked 336 in percentage of construction jobs lost.

From the report: Between November 2009 and November 2010, Las Vegas lost 13,400 construction jobs, or 23 percent. Reno lost 2,700 jobs, or 26 percent.

And according to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation, “Combined, the two areas [Las Vegas and Reno] have lost roughly 19,000 more construction jobs in the last three years than was gained in the previous 10.”
