Search foreclosure listings on Google

This blog’s founder, Diane Cohn, sent me a heads-up regarding this nice Google Maps feature.  It’s the ability to search foreclosures using Google Maps.  Apparently, it been around for awhile, but the data continues to get better.  Anyway, thank you Diane for sharing.

Here are the steps…

  1. Go to Google Maps
  2. Enter any city in the US  (i.e. Reno, NV)
  3. Select the “More…” button on the map
  4. Check the “Real Estate” checkbox
  5. On the left-hand panel you will see various options for filtering the search results.  For “Listing Type” select “Foreclosure”

…and Voila!

  6. Zoom in to your liking

Here is a Google map showing the REO listings in Reno/Sparks:

Very cool. It shows not only Reno, but Carson City, Fernley, Fallon, Truckee, Lake Tahoe, Incline Village. There are a whole lotta little orange dots all over the place.

    Incline Village? Incline Village?

I thought Incline Village was immune to the economic forces impacting the rest of the country.

I thought it was different there.

Is this supposed to be historical? The ones near me have already been sold and are now occupied.

Very cool tool. I am curious to see how many of the properties are actually still available. Thanks for sharing
