America’s most miserable cities …not Reno

    Stockton, Merced, Modesto, Fresno, Sac’to, all those central San Joaquin cities, pretty dismal, it is true; but it could be worse– try spending some time these days in a few of the small towns in the central and northern San Joaquin Valley. (CCR may have been ahead of its time):

    ..things got bad, things got worse,
    I guess you know the tune;
    Oh Lord, I’m stuck in Lodi again.

    I can understand most of these choices, but not Fresno, Salinas or Ft. Lauderdale. I would replace those 3 with Providence, RI, Newark and Trenton NJ.

    Another cut coming to city services: Northwest and/or Idlewild pools are on the chopping block. Tonight, February 10, City Council chambers, 6 p.m. The problem is that the city says, ‘our way or not at all’ though there are offers for partnerships. Bleah. Ratty little city.
