RENO, Nev. (July 9, 2012) – There was little change in the price of homes in the Reno-Sparks area during the first half of the year, according to a midyear report released by Lake Tahoe-based real estate company Chase International. The report, which compares all sales in the Reno and Sparks area from January 1 through June 30, 2012 to the same timeframe of 2011, saw a nine percent jump in the number of homes sold and a five percent increase in dollar volume sold.

The median price of a home is down only one percent for the Reno/Sparks region to $153,890 while the average price is down four percent to $188,871. The median price of a home in Reno is $155,200 (down three percent) and the average is $200,761 (down five percent). The median price of a home in Sparks is $150,000 (up two percent) and the average price remained flat at $162,951. The condo market saw a one percent gain in dollar volume, a one percent decrease in condos sold and a very encouraging jump in the median and average prices, 17 percent and 10 percent respectively.

“The Reno and Sparks areas are still on the road to recovery,” said Susan Lowe, corporate vice president of Chase International. “The steady climb of home sales and relatively stable prices is definitely a good sign.”
