Despite rising home sale prices [the Reno-Sparks median sales price is up over 20 percent YTD] the number of licensed brokers and agents throughout the state continues to decline — as agents leave the business voluntarily, or otherwise. According to the most recent data released by the State of Nevada Real Estate Division the number of licensees has hit a new low.
Statewide, Active licensees fell 2.3 percent since this time last year. The number of Inactive licensees (those placing their licenses on ice temporarily) has also dropped – falling 20.7 percent. This indicates more agents are simply calling it quits with no intention to return to the business. Combined, the drop in the number of Active and Inactive licensee in the state has fallen 5.8 percent over the past year.
Washoe County saw similar declines in the number of its licensees. Countywide, Active licensees fell 2.2 percent since this time last year. The number of Inactive licensees fell 16.0 percent. Combined, the drop in the number of Active and Inactive licensee in the County has fallen 5.2 percent over the past year.
