Did you catch last week’s U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s announcement of the nearly $1 billion in additional NSP grants awarded to states for the purpose of confronting abandonment and blight brought on by foreclosures. These Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) grants “…provide targeted emergency assistance to state and local governments to acquire, redevelop or demolish foreclosed properties.”
I was looking at the breakdown of the $970 million in grant money. Relatively speaking, Nevada did pretty well, receiving more than $43 million of the total pie. Of that amount, Reno gets $1,973,724 and Washoe County gets $1,735,918.
