Did you think that western development was going to end at Somersett?
The annexation of the Quilici / Mortensen / Boomtown properties added 3000 more housing units and a couple million square feet of retail and commercial development to what is planned in West Reno. And Reno accommodated it all with STAR bonds, property tax incremental financing, the creation of "Transit" districts through barren land, and a $M sewer to nowhere. Unless you happen to be Boomtown or Cabela’s.
Will Santerra and the Western Gateway ever happen? Probably, in some form, someday. But at what cost to Reno?
Hey, this really isn’t a RRB caliber topic, but I’ve lived in the shadows to the Western Gateway for close to a decade now, so the topic is special to me. The complete post is at REreno.
