Washoe County new home sales, resales, and re-fi recordings for December have been compiled and released by our friends at Ticor Title.
As I mentioned in my last monthly median post, sales as reported on our MLS spiked in December. The numbers provided by Ticor also show this. 676 recorded re-sales marked a very strong December – the strongest we’ve seen in a few years and an increase of 14.6 percent over November’s resales. Will this level of activity continue into January? I don’t think so. I believe much of December’s activity was fueled by lenders attempting to get pending REOs off their books before year-end. Recall, 39 percent of December’s sales were REOs – up from 32 percent for November.
Re-fi’s continue their surge, coming in at 733 for the month – a number we haven’t seen since last Summer.
