As predicted last month all indices were up in February. New home sales jumped up in February compared to January’s number of new home sales. February’s 82 new homes sold represents a 13.9 percent increase over the 72 new homes sold in January. Additionally February’s number is up 3.8 percent year-over-year.
February resales increased 4.1 percent over January’s resales; and are off slightly (less than 1 percent) year-over-year. Additionally, Ticor Title reports that 35 percent of the resale transactions in Washoe County in February were cash.
Re-fi’s jumped to a whopping 818 for the month. That number is a 24.3 percent increase over January’s 658 refinances — and represents a year-over-year increase of 92.5 percent! Consumers must feel that interest rates are inevitably going to increase, so they’re locking in their rates now.

Notices of Default (NODs) are holding fairly steady. Notices of Sale (NOSs) however continue trending up — 88 in February — up 14 percent over January. Trustee Deeds (TDs) are trending down – 43 in February – the lowest level since August last year.
