Since the collapse of the housing bubble the number of Nevada-licensed real estate agents and brokers has fallen every quarter…until now.
The number of Active licensees in the state of Nevada has increased for the first time since the housing crash. This increase should not come as a surprise, as home prices have been on the rise for more than two years now. The real surprise is how long it has taken for this change in direction to occur.
It should be noted that the statewide gain is mostly attributable to Clark County’s number — which accounts for 74 percent of the state’s active licensees.
Also of note is that Washoe County’s number of active licensees — which accounts for 12.3 percent of the state’s total — has not quite turned the corner yet. As can be seen in the table below the number of active licensees in Washoe County remains at a record low point. However, the number of inactive licensees is on the increase for the first time since the housing collapse. [Inactive licensees have place their licenses on hold temporarily and may reactivate them at a later time.]
I suspect that the next batch of numbers released be the Real Estate Division will show Washoe County’s active real estate licensees on the rise as well.
