Mike Kazmiersky, President/CEO of the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN), penned a nice piece on how the Reno-Sparks area will change with the arrival of Tesla Motors’ Gigafactory. See Our World Has Just Changed With Tesla! [click on the link and then scroll down]
Some positive impacts will include…
- higher home values
- increase property tax revenues
- improved air service
- rebound of the construction industry
- higher average wages
- lower unemployment
On the negative side, the area will see…
- more traffic
- increase prices
- higher cost of living
- population increase
What are your thoughts? What changes (expected or otherwise) will the region see?
Zen
Overall, if your timeline for living in this city is the next 20 to 30 years, this should be a good thing economically. What our so called leaders had better do though is be smart about how they manage all of this. Make a lasting industry that will endure and not run out of here as soon as someone else is willing to give them a better deal.
On the other hand, If you are here because you enjoyed that biggest little city thing, I think we can all officially dispense with that now, if we haven’t already. To me the Minden-Gardnerville area keeps looking better and better.
