Our Blog Named The Best Of Reno

Nothing like blowing our own horn.  Yesterday I was informed that Diane and I (and our Reno Realty Blog) have been listed as one of Reno Magazine’s "The Best of Reno TOP 101".  In case you missed it we’re on page 97.  Kudos also to Mike Van H’s Downtown Makeover site and Myrna the Minx’s Reno and Its Discontents blog for also being named.  Obviously, we’re in good company.

Congrats! And somehow, I did miss it. I actually read that article while getting a hair cut on Saturday too. I was impressed with all the great businesses being named downtown and around greater Reno as well. Many, many of them were smaller, independent businesses locally owned. I like to see that.

Congratulations, and that is nice to know. I live in Auburn and subscribed to this blog via rss after seeing Diane post in the city-data forums. One of the places we are considering relocating to is Reno, but we need much more info before making the big move.

    So . . . . .
Who was on the first 96 pages????
    Congratulations, guys!

Hey Bob, you beat me to it. I particularly note the comment of Mr. Wiseman, a local realtor, that he might potentialy have 72 foreclosures among his listings. And he’s just one guy.

And to think, for the most part, all we are dealing with up to this point in Reno are all the trash Voodoo loans made at the end of the bubble to the Absolutely Unqualified who defaulted before their ARMs even reset. You know, the folks who made 1 or 2 payments and then defaulted.
Wait until all ARMs from 2005 start to explode this year. And then there are all the Alt-A debtowners who are 25%-30% upside down on their houses. I imagine all the 5/25s from 2003 still have enough equity to squeak out a re-fi, which accounts for the recent uptick in loan applications.
I think we can write off 2008.

The Center for Regional Studies generally has pretty good info. But believe it or not, they are putting a positive spin on this. They show 105 forclosures in 2006 and 750 in 2007. The Recorder shows only 19 in 2006, and 624 in 2007. More like 3100% increase!

I’m not here to argue numbers – we all agree it’s grim. But if you thought 2007 and December were bad, wait for January 2008. So far, Trustee’s Deeds are at 166 this month, up from a record high of 100 in December. And to emphasize RI’s point, these TD’s are (mostly) not the Alt-A or Option Arm loans yet.

Why isn’t there a cute little insignia next to this sites name in my bookmark list? Kind of like Diane’s picture that shows up in front of the “http:”? Other than that, I think the site is the greatest!

DEBMUSC, I like that idea. I’ll forward to our site admin person. Thanks.
