Foreclosures Dogs and Squirrels

Another month, and more records on the Washoe County foreclosure front.  291 Trustee’s Deeds, up from 288 in August and 280 in July.  398 Notices of Sale, up slightly from 396 in August, but still down from the anomalous 481 in July.  Gross Notices of Default topped out at 587, up from 559 in August and 549 in July.

All in all, the default numbers across all categories have remained pretty flat all quarter, albeit at record levels.  I’ve already forgotten the acronym for the last homeowners bailout package that was supposed to forestall foreclosures and allow mortgage work-outs, but I sure don’t see any indication that it is having any effect at all.  1935 homes have been lost to foreclosure this year.

With all the bad news we’ve been hearing, I’d like to share some good news.  Black Dog has been rescued!  She spent two months living off the land, and was ultimately brought in by the long, slow, diligent efforts of concerned and involved neighbors.  I believe the owner of Scraps in Mayberry Landing made the final rescue, and Black Dog was scheduled for veterinary care for her damage paw, then off to High Sierra Rescue in Portola for rehab.  I thank all of you on the blog that were moved by her story for all of your concern, suggestions and offers of help.  If I hear updates on Black Dog, I’ll let you know.  All I know is that I am damn proud of my neighbors that worked so hard over months to insure the best possible result for this lost soul.

Embarrassed buy the native squirrels flashing your children and tanking resale values at ArrowCreek and Montruex?  Well here’s a neato solution to your squirrel problem.  We will all be discussing this and much more at the the Reno Real Estate Blog meet up on Thursday .  Please check you sidearms at the door.
