New Search Options

The Washoe County Assessor went live with a new search option today.   It is now possible to search their data base by the owner’s name, and will bring up all properties owned by the party.   This is a huge time saver.   In another change, only the first Card associated with a property now appears in the search – you need to look to see if their are other Cards.

Mitch Argon has his Search the MLS by Short Sale and Foreclosure Listings functions back up and running.  It looks like the NNMLS has relaxed their privacy stance now that Listing Status has become a public function.  Many thanks, Mitch!  IDX feeds now show the listing status, though sites using the JONYXX feed (Prudential) do not show listing status yet – hope that changes soon.

All in all, a great day for openness and transparency.

    Hey Mike,

Do you have any tricks for locating property that is held in a trust? For example, if I want to see if Joe Blow owns any property I can search under his name and find it. If he holds property in the “Joe Blow Family Trust” I can also find it. But suppose he holds all his property in the “It’s a Big Secret Family Trust” and I don’t know that he is connected to that entity. Any tricks for connecting Mr. Blow to this trust?
    Thanks.

Norton, if you search under both names; the beneficiaries of the trust should come up. In other words, if Joe Blow owns property under the Rising Sun trust, he would be a beneficiary and it would show.

    I meant “trustee”.

Norton, Sully has it pegged. Play around with the trust or owner names as Grantor or Grantee on the Recorder’s site, and the trail will usually lead to the real owner. With few exceptions, trusts cannot enter into deeds of trust, so the property transfers back to the “real” owner when refinanced.
