New graffiti or public art tagged on the side of the King’s Inn. Lot’s of Johnny Darko import.

Now this is something you will never find at the Dude’s Downtown Makeover blog. Graffiti in downtown Reno does not exist over there.
I actually find this to be somewhat entertaining.

Walter, the Dude put it up on his FB site actually
Is this some localized slang version of Donnie Darko?

I read in the RGJ that the entire downtown district now has an assessed valuation of $33 million. $33 million. For the entire downtown district. Which is generating anemic tax dollars for the city and county. I guess all those pawnshops and bars and tattoo parlors and tee shirt joints are not worth very much. I guess even the few remaining hotels and casinos are not worth all that much.
So maybe this Johnny Darko bunny rabbit tagger, who appears to have some talent, ought to get hired by the city to tag all over downtown. Call it the Downtown Reno Cultural Renovation Artist’s Project. Or the Downtown Reno CRAP.

Assessed values are always Much much lower than resales values… In many cases they are only 20% of resale value..

John,
I fully understand what assesed value means. My point is that an assesed valuation of $33 million for all of the downtown district is pathetic. ONE hotel/casino on the LV strip has an assesed valuation greater than all of the downtown Reno district. Assessed valuation is what determines the tax obligation of the property owner, and the tax base of downtown Reno has eroded to pathetic evels.

Sewell is absolutely correct. The tax base of downtown has deteriorated to such a point that the Redevelopment Authority has no money. It does not even have any employees anymore. In fact it is in debt. A sorry state of affairs.

downtown reno and the las vegas strip? Are you seriously comparing the two? lol
That is one intense Donny Darko fan… I heard San Diego is getting hit with Ron Burgundy (Anchorman) graffiti all over the city. Perhaps this is the new trend.
