This morning’s RGJ had an interesting piece discussing the make-up of Nevada’s population; see Number of Nevadans born in another country close to number born in state. Did you now that Nevada has the fewest native-born residents of any state in the country? Only 24.3% of Nevada’s current population is native-born. That number is almost 11 percentage points behind Florida, which has the 2nd lowest native-born population, at 35.2%
The birthplace of the other three-quarters of Nevada’s residents is all over the map. Almost 20 percent of Nevadans were born in another country.

FWIW, the phonetic pronunciation offered by CommRow is simply the way a Mexican national pronounces the name of the country. I say Mexican because that is the country he is from – not Hispanico.
Ah, life would be so much simpler if everyone just called a spade a spade and quit pussyfooting around. 🙂
