Apparently it’s not because of gender discrimination, but rather because when shopping around for cheaper loans, women rely on the recommendations of friends.

This blog is a morgue now. What happened?

What happened?
There is nothing of controversy to talk about anymore. Nothing keeps a blog going like a good debate. What is there left to debate? That there was an enormous bubble? Nobody can dispute that. That the bubble burst? Nobody can dispute that.
That real estate market in Reno collapsed? Nobody can dispute that. Hell, Mike notes that a parcel of real estate in Somersett has dropped 88% in value and nobody even blinks.
Even the state of downtown Reno, which used to be good for an entertaining exchange, doesn’t stimulate much comment anymore. Maybe that’s because pretty much everything that can be said about downtown Reno has been said, about 1000 times, on this blog already.
For a while the topic of whether “the bottom” has been reached used to generate some good debate. Now nobody seems to care about that anymore.
All the interesting, and let’s face it provocative, posters like Bantering Bear and Reno Ignoramus and Smarten have left the blog. My guess is that they still read the blog, but don’t find much new to say. One of the things that keeps political and sports blogs going is that there are new developments every day. Some politician is doing something every day which is grist for the mill, and some team or player or coach does something which provides grounds for taking of sides. But the real estate market? Pretty slow moving for the most part.

denial, anger, acceptance.
We have reached the final stage of grief over this housing depression. Nothing to mourn, Walter. It’s a necessary precondition before any constructive, healthy environment can be re-established.
Could be another 10 years of this, though, so you might want to find another reality show with which to amuse yourself. FWIW…

Here is an interesting article expanding on skekptical’s comment:
As home prices sink, home ownership heads to new lows

This is the stupidest thing I have read since checking this blog out. After 20+ years in the loan business, countless thousands of funded loans, I never heard of a woman getting a hire rate then a man.
