As those ubiquitous baby boomers get closer to retiring in 5-25 years, many are considering a new place to live. They seek cheaper, friendlier, less congested locales with access to all the usual amenities, plus year round recreation. Since much of Tahoe is nearly as pricey as the City itself, many are starting to look down the hill at Reno.
We have less snow, beautiful mountain views, a budding arts community, decent shopping, medical facilities and a quick, no traffic, 30-minute commute up the hill to over a half-dozen world class ski resorts. Best of all, our average home price at $370,000 is like a half price sale to your average Bay Area Escapee. So it’s pretty natural for folks to cash out and move our way.
Which means, that despite the recent market slowdown, our long-term appreciation potential is fabulous!
