Rookie of the Year

Guy would never post this about himself, so I’m taking the liberty. At the broker’s quarterly meeting last week, our very own Guy Johnson was honored with not one, but two awards. In addition to taking home “most units sold for Q4”, Guy was named “Top Rookie 2007”. Guy attributes this blog as a key to the success of his business and adds, “2007 was a good year for me, and 2008 has started on a very good note. Despite the current market conditions, there are still buyers and sellers in the marketplace. I am happy to have assisted my clients in obtaining the best deals.” Looking to buy or sell? Call Guy.

    Congrats Guy.

Well I’m impressed. Your first short sale; first probate sale; and all in your first year as a licensee! Many licensees go through an entire career without ever consummating one of these “creative” transactions. Well heck, given today’s marketplace [more licensees than yearly sales], there are licensees who can’t even pull off a single sales/purchase transaction.

    Keep up the good work!

I second the commendation. But really, Guy, what about all those other 3,100 agents? If every agent in Reno-Sparks is going to do .7 of one transaction this year, then I guess you have already taken your allotment and need to go do something else for the rest of the year. Is that a croquet mallet you are holding? How much do professional croquet players make?

Standing ovation, if you please. You da’ man.

    Congratulations, Guy.

By the way, how many was “most units sold for Q4”?

    Congratulations to Diane!

Realtor blogs help reel in clients, boost sales

Take Diane Cohn, who started Reno Realty Blog two years ago. An agent with Chase International, she’s been selling real estate for just three years and last year closed 21 transactions totaling almost $13 million in a declining Reno market.

Who says nice Guys finish last?
Our Guy is such a nice “guy” — he’ll eat his late-night snack after a few drinks — outside on the hotel hall carpet — rather than waking his sleeping roommate at 3 a.m.
    Congrats to Our Guy.

I’m pretty sure you owe it all to your roomie at Inman NYC. 😉

    Congrats Guy!!

Wow! Thanks everyone for your kind words. This is all very nice of you. Sincerely, thank you.

And thank you Diane for sharing the news. Speaking of Diane, she also took home an award from our broker at the same company meeting last week. Diane was honored with “Top Agent – Most Units Sold”. And if you clicked on the LA Times link in MikeZ’s comment above, you’ll see that Diane closed 21 transactions in 2007. Congratulations to Diane, as well.

In answer to your questions above:
R.I., yes that is a croquet mallet; and I have no idea how much the pros make.

MikeZ, 3 transactions in Q4 were enough to set me apart. In 2007 total I did 12 sides.

And to everyone else, thank you.

Let’s put this into some perspective here. If every one of the 3100 agents still apparently paying dues had done 12 deals last year, that would have been 37,200 deals. If they had each done 21 deals, that would have been 65,100 deals.

Now the total number of deals last year was somewhere around 3,300, more or less. On average, each dues paying agent did about one deal last year, more or less.

Superstars they are. I tell you they are Superstars here on this blog.

Sorry guys, I only did 19 transaction sides… this is really embarrassing, but I gave Guy the wrong number. The other two were referrals. Oops!

    19 transactions Diane?

Time to be checking out Montreux, don’t you think?

  12. Diane Cohn

Smarten, no chance… I have teenagers. I have to do ten transactions just to feed them. 😉
